Nearly 85% of the 2.6 million single parents in Germany are women. How did they fare during the COVID-19 pandemic, stuck at home around the clock and in social isolation? As part of the collaborative project IN WAVES #womenincovid, I spent several months photographing single mothers in their daily lives. The project documents the diverse and often disproportionate impacts of the pandemic on women’s lives. It was conceived as an exhibition project and has been shown multiple times both in Germany and abroad.
